The new Brill book series, is inviting manuscripts for its first volume provisionally entitled 鈥淎esthetic Experience and Somaesthetics鈥� to be edited by Richard Shusterman. The collected volume of essays will be partly based on papers originally presented at a four-day international conference with that same title that took place in Budapest, June 2014. We seek new essays to complement those already selected for the volume. Essays either on aesthetic experience or on somaesthetics will be considered but there is particular interest in essays that connect the two concepts. Submissions should generally be between 6,000 and 7,000 words, although slightly longer or slightly shorter essays may also be considered.
Please send your essays to the editor at bodymindculture@fau.edu or shuster1@fau.edu by November 15, 2015. Essays that are not selected for the volume may, by author鈥檚 request, be subsequently considered for publication in the Journal of Somaesthetics.
The formatting conventions for submissions are as follows:
1. Double-Spaced.
2. 12-point Font.
3. Times New Roman.
4. Word file (not PDF or anything else).
5. Footnotes (not endnotes).
6. Use Chicago Manual of Style 鈥淣otes and Bibliography鈥� style for citations.
#6 requires further comment. We will use the 鈥淣otes and Bibliography鈥� style, and will opt NOT to have stand-apart bibliographies. In other words, all bibliographical material will be contained in the footnotes. In the footnotes, each source will be cited fully in the first instance and then abbreviated in subsequent instances. Here are some examples, in accord with the punctuation style that we are adopting:
