We invite women to register for the workshop by Monday 1st June (all those who self-identify as women are women). Aims of the Workshop

This workshop will be the first of its kind in the UK, roughly following the example set by Princeton University鈥檚 Networking and Mentoring Workshop for Graduate Women in Philosophy held in August 2014.

The aim of the workshop is to bring together graduate and early career women in philosophy from a selection of philosophical areas in order to offer support and encouragement to develop a thriving community of women in philosophy.

The workshop will provide graduate and early career women with feedback on their work and advice on a career in philosophy. Alongside the philosophical talks, there will be presentations discussing a wide range of issues facing women in philosophy. We hope that a consequence of the workshop will be an enhanced support network, which will encourage more women into the discipline.

“Aesthetics and the Feminine鈥� is supported by The Society for Women In Philosophy Ireland (SWIP-I) and The Schools of Philosophy and Politics at University College Cork (UCC). This conference aims to provide a supportive, engaging environment for all researchers working on the topic of ‘the feminine’ in aesthetics, the study of 鈥榞endered’ representations in various arts/media, or the thought/work of female aestheticians/artists.

Submissions: Abstracts of 200 words for 20-minute presentations (plus 10 minutes Q&A afterward), in Word document format should be prepared for blind review (together with a separate cover sheet detailing institutional information etc.) and emailed to: marylouise.eds@gmail.com.

We welcome proposals from a broad range of disciplines including philosophy, comparative literature, art history, gender studies, cultural studies, The social sciences and other relevant disciplines. Interdisciplinary studies are encouraged as well as proposals for co-presentations and panels. We also invite artists, working on relevant themes/subjects, to discuss and present their work at this event.
